The "Langheck" was the absolute culmination of Porsche 917 development as a long distance racer,endeavouring to achieve low drag, and hence low fuel consumption, with stability.For Le Mans in 1971, yhe Longtail Coupe of Vic Elford and Gerard Larrousse, entered by the Martini International Racing Team,attained a speed of 240 MPH (386 km/H) along the Mulsanne Straight.This charismatic car is depicted leading two Ferrari 512's and the JWA Gulf 917LH of Derek Bell and Jo Siffert, as they sweep trough the right hand curve after the pit straigt towards the Dunlop bridge.
