Overview

Second edition of the Bordeaux Grand Prix : Alberto Ascari's triumph on a Ferrari F500. You can spot behind him Juan Manuel Fangio driving a Gordini. In 1952 and 1953, the Grand Prix championship  was declassed in "Formula 2" bacause there was a lack of 2,5 L engines necessary to the Formula 1 class. In those times, the monumental horses sculptures of the "colonne des Girondins" were missing. These sculptures remained a long time time in Germany as it was a spoil of war. In 1953, it was still not returned to its original place.
