Caracciola in the Mercedes-Benz SSK presses "Williams" in the Bugatti Type 35B as they approach Casino Square.In defending his lead, the Englishman sets the lap record.Caracciola was to suffer a disastrous pit stop but recovered to finish a valiant third.Bugatti achieved a walkover, taking 6 out of the first 7 places. 1st Monaco Grand Prix 14th April 1929.
