Jochen Rindt

Karl Jochen Rindt (Mainz, 18 April 1942 - Monza, 5 September 1970) was a racing driver. An orphan of German nationality, he grew up with his grandparents in Graz and drove with an Austrian licence. Rindt crashed while training for the 1970 Italian Formula One Grand Prix. However, Rindt was so far ahead in the championship that he still became Formula 1 world champion posthumously in 1970.
