In 1939, the third edition of the Grossglockner Race again attracts many more participants and spectators than in the previous year to Zell Am See, Kaprun, Bruck and Fusch. Again in Ferleiten is the paddock at the Lukashansl and the toll station. This year again tens of thousands of visitors flock to Fusch and Ferleiten, line the start zone at the toll station and the last hairpin bends to the Fuscher Törl. There are sources that speak of 60,000 sport-loving spectators - however, a figure at this fabulous level is certainly a transmission error.
